
Apple Pie Meal Replacement Shake
Dessert for breakfast?! Yes, please! This meal replacement shake is quick and easy - perfect for those mornings when you are short on time in the kitchen. Simply add a package of MRC’s Very High Protein (VHP) Shake, a cup of ice, a few dashes of Apple Pie Spice, and a can of zero-calorie apple flavored water and you’ve got a breakfast that’s as filling as it is delicious! Apple pie spice is the secret ingredient that gives this shake such a decadent feeling. Many grocery stores sell pre-made apple pie spice (check out the spice aisle). But, you can also very easily make your own at home with spices that you may already have in your spice rack: cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. A quick and easy recipe that you can store and use again and again is: 4 TBSP cinnamon, 1.5 tsp nutmeg, and ½ tsp allspice. Just mix together and store in an airtight container with the rest of your spices and herbs!
There are a few ways you can prepare this shake, and it all comes down to what kind of texture you like. For a thicker, frothier shake, use an electric blender. For less froth and a thinner shake, use a shaker bottle and allow the bubbles to settle either in the fridge or during your morning commute.
