Body Mass Index, BMI, is a tool that uses your height to weight ratio to estimate a healthy weight range. BMI can be used a screening tool to assess whether your weight might be putting you at risk for health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. BMI helps to broadly define weight ranges, and while it does not take into account all factors such as muscle mass and fitness level, it does serve as a useful tool to help set weight loss goals.
