Believe Change Is Possible to Get Started Now

A simple belief that you can develop your abilities, and that effort and dedication will make a difference can keep you from feeling paralyzed by a new challenge. Therapist Brandon Trean commented, "It would seem quite difficult to achieve a level of physical health when our mental landscape is so full of weeds." Some people falsely believe their intelligence and abilities are unchangeable, which is indicative of a fixed or rigid mindset that limits his or her ability to dig deep when discovering new things about themselves. Once you accept that mistakes are normal when tackling difficult challenges, you won't give up easily when things get difficult and will be more willing to take additional risks.

By changing your mindsets, you are able to make sustainable changes in your life that will make a real difference. Check out the tips provided below:

  • Mindset Does Matter - With a rigid mindset, failure is an example of your own inadequacy, whereas, with a growth mindset, failure is an opportunity to learn and gain a new perspective.
  • Believe Change is Possible - Rather than pine for what you wish you had, change your life by changing your thoughts about what you believe is possible. It may be all that stands between you and true happiness.
  • Focus on Real Results - Never fear another person's criticism. Your harshest critic may actually provide you with valuable insights to help you become better at what you want to accomplish in life.
  • Time to Flip the Switch - Some people flip their switch with a brisk walk or morning jog. Find what works best for you and don't waste time getting your day started.
  • Focus on Your Pace Only - It is one thing to achieve your goal; it can be a challenge to enjoy it after you have achieved it. It is not a race, so follow your pace.
  • Create the Momentum for Positive Results - Investing the time to work on your own development can be challenging but it is the only way to manage setbacks.

It is important to understand that taking an action, particularly one that you would not have expected, your thoughts and feelings toward that behavior is likely to change. Simply stating that you want to break or change a habit doesn't make it so. To adopt a new habit, you first have to unlearn the old one and replace it with a new behavior. To make a new habit stick, make sure it stays front and center in your mind. Assigning visual cues or repeating it based around a specified time can help. If you want to jumpstart a personal transformation, take the time to understand your current mindset by asking yourself tough questions.
