Weight Loss Does Not Have to Be an Uphill Climb

Experts say that a majority of weight loss plateaus are caused by the person’s body reverting to survival mechanisms that are designed to protect against times of famine and triggered by sudden reductions in intake. Unfortunately, gradual weight gain over many years can trick your body into thinking that your metabolic rate should be changed as to accommodate your new, higher body weight. Your body is programmed, mostly by your DNA and surrounding environment, to function at an optimal rate based on your metabolism. That causes some people to meet resistance much early once they are shedding pounds. The good news is researchers say if you lose weight steadily, your body can adjust to your metabolic rate by establishing a new normal and will not be battling you at every turn in the road along the way.

  • Drink Water Before Meals - A recent study demonstrated that participants who consumed two cups of water before each meal consumed fewer calories and lost more weight than those who did not increase their intake.
  • Track Macronutrient Intake - Sometimes, small unconscious fluctuations in daily macronutrient intake can cause a weight loss plateau. This is less likely to happen when following a personalized menu plan.
  • Add Protein Each Day - Although you do not need to load up on weird foods to increase your intake of nutrients, keep some high-protein snacks or drinks close by to better your chances of losing weight.
  • Choose Healthy Treats - Prepping healthier homemade snacks can help you grab a quick fix without hitting up the drive-thru or reaching for convenient processed foods.

I’ve tried pretty much everything to shed the weight that I’ve gained over the last 20 plus years. I’ve had success with a few different programs, but it was short lived. I happened to have stumbled across the Metabolic Research Center on Facebook and decided to check it out. Feli was very knowledgeable with how the program works and I ended up joining at my consultation visit (June 12th). I have been steadily losing weight every week and I think I may have hit my weight loss goal of 20 pounds! (I’ll find out tomorrow) I’m going to go for another 10 pounds because this program REALLY works!!! Feli, Mark and Patty are AWESOME coaches! I went from feeling hopeless to feeling on top of the world! Life is good
