Fresh Fruits Are a Natural Source of Water

It is natural for anyone to want to lose weight quickly, but evidence suggests people who lose weight steadily are much more successful at keeping it off through long-term changes in eating habits. Truth is major weight loss changes won't happen overnight and you cannot use the gym to out-exercise poor nutrition. Rather than making drastic changes that leave you frustrated after only a few days, make a small change each week to give yourself time to become accustomed to your new eating patterns.

Dried Fruits and Juices Do Not Support Weight Loss

Fruit can be nutrient dense. However, some types of fruit are high in a sugar called fructose. This simple sugar is the reason that many dieters remove it from their menus or recommend consumption in moderation. Unlike the common glucose that is burned by muscles, organs and the brain for energy, fructose is only processed by in the liver. This explains why drinking fruit juice has been associated with weight gain, although fresh fruits have health benefits.

Naturally packed with water and fiber, fruit can help other foods slip and slide right through your digestive system, which may feel uncomfortable until your body adjusts to the increased fructose metabolism. Fruit is incredibly nutrient-dense, contains healthy fiber and is a natural source of water. Nonetheless, it is important to stick to whole fruits instead of fruit juices and dried fruit that have been processed and are generally not healthy options.

Reverse Eating Habits That Hinder Weight Loss

A big advantage of eating real foods is that they typically make for bigger portion sizes while providing fewer calories. This is due to the calorie-free water contained in fresh fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. If current eating habits are causing weight gain, you need to change your eating patterns. For example, take time to enjoy the food you're eating by chewing more slowly, never eat when you're not hungry, and quit the clean-plate club.
