Whenever Your Weight Changes Your Brain Will Intervene

Since insulin hormone only burns carbohydrates for fuel, your body starts to crave carbs anytime a food deficiency occurs. Unfortunately, this launches a vicious cycle that must be broken in order for you to lose more weight. Although food makes you feel loved and comforted during stressful moments, sadly the effects are only temporary. No matter how much you intend to restrict yourself, beware as it is easy to keep going back for more.

Setting a goal to lose weight is not hard but following through on the challenge can be difficult to do. It is not a matter of if your motivation will let you down, but when. Participants in an obesity study who admitted to using food as a coping mechanism admitted greater difficulty in trying to overcome their current eating behaviors to break common food addictions. When you eat the wrong foods, you gain weight and your body now requires more fuel to burn, so you eat more.

  • You Can Do This - Setting smaller or short-term goals will help you recognize the progress that you are making, which can help to keep you motivated. Your smaller achievements will eventually add up so you reach your target weight.
  • Exercise Willpower - To retrain your mind, do not allow your mental fantasies to include unhealthy foods or bad lifestyle behaviors. You may have numerous food cravings but the goal is to train your mind to let them go.

  • Ditch Dieting - One of the keys to weight loss success comes from the accountability with which you track your progress, but be smart. If you weigh yourself more than once a week, you will experience unnecessary ups and downs.
  • Reward Yourself - If you are what you eat, then think of yourself as a healthy eater. Once you begin to identify with this new role, you will start to take on those traits.
  • Rethink Being Active - Weight loss studies have shown that you can reach your goal weight faster and will have more success in maintaining it if you are purposefully more active.

When it comes to weight loss, most people favor tangible efforts like counting calories and measuring portions. However, the physical aspects often need to take a back seat to mental issues, such as the reasons for overeating in the first place. At the heart of the weight-loss argument is set point weight. That means body weight is controlled by your brain and you want to avoid having your body start fighting back against your weight loss efforts.

Whenever your weight changes, your brain will intervene, as it is responsible for maintaining the correct weight. However, what you think your weight should be may or may not be consistent with what your brain prefers. If you think your body and mind are not connected, you are wrong. That's what make everybody an emotional eater. After all, you celebrate holidays with food and dine with friends over a big meal. The trick is to not let emotional needs keep you from meeting your weight loss goals.

I'm very happy I decided to join Metabolic Research Center. Not only have I lost almost 40 pounds and still going, I found out the reasons why I have been struggling with my weight for years. Its so important as a woman to know how your hormones affect us; and if the ladies at the center hadn't explained how important it was to take a hormone test, then I would still be struggling. I can't wait to get to my goal! Thank you!!
