Learning about Metabolic Research Center from a colleague was the start of an amazing journey for me. I signed up and started my weight loss program at 244 pounds and hit my goal of 185 within 6 months! The most exciting and unexpected surprise happened about 14 weeks into my program. Prior to starting the program, I had suffered from sleep apnea so severe that my doctor was considering surgery. Well, one night I fell asleep without my CPAP machine. When I awoke, my wife said, “You weren’t snoring!” Not needing the CPAP any longer was such an incredible gift that it became a powerful motivator to me for the reminder of my weight loss journey. And now, even though I’m nearly 50, I’m constantly being accused of being thirty-something. It was at that moment that I realized I never noticed how much weight I’d gained and how it changed me. I do now though because people notice me and say, "Wow, you look great!"
Once you get started, the program is really easy. What I found most helpful was (1) the accountability I got through weekly weigh-ins and (2) keeping a food journal. The food journal is the only way you really know what you’re eating and how much. The support I consistenly received at my weigh-ins really helped too. The inch loss that I experienced while shedding pounds was incredible, and I really enjoyed learning all the science behind the routine body composition analyses performed periodically throughout my journey. Some of my favorite products are the Super Fruit and Veggie drink, the protein drinks, and the meal replacement drinks and bars. Even though I’m in maintenance now, I still use them because they’re healthy, convenient and delicious!
