Coffee Drinks With MetabolicSeptember 29th is National Coffee Day and we couldn't let this opportunity pass us by. Coffee is a great tool when you're losing weight because it is full of flavor, feels a bit like dessert, and it keeps your hands busy. For those non-coffee drinkers, the same applies to all sorts of wonderful hot teas, but today we celebrate coffee!

Coffee, in moderation, is not only good for the soul but it's also healthy! Research shows coffee can help boost energy, increase mood, and it may even protect against Type II Diabetes and other diseases. Coffee contains important nutrients including; Riboflavin (B2), Manganese, Potassium, Magnesium, and Niacin (B3). More great reasons to drink up!

Frappes, Blended Coffee Drinks, and other such fancy coffee concoctions can contain over 1000 calories, yikes! Your local coffee shops sell drinks that contain more calories than the pastries they offer - that's insane! Here are a few tips and simple recipes to create amazing flavored coffee drinks without all those unnecessary calories.

Pumpkin Spiced Coffee

  • 1-2 dashes Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 8 ounces hot coffee
  • For cream use: Almond Milk, MRC Vanilla Ready Made, or Half and Half (Meat Lovers Delights menu only)

Pumpkin Pie Spice

Skinny Vanilla Latte

  • 3 ounces MRC Vanilla Ready Made
  • 8 ounces hot coffee
  • Dash vanilla extract

Cinnamon Latte

  • 1-2 dashes cinnamon
  • 8 ounces hot coffee
  • Add 1 cinnamon stick for fun!
  • For cream use: Almond Milk, MRC Vanilla Ready Made, or Half and Half (Meat Lovers Delights menu only)

MRC Vanila Ready To Drink

Mocha Latte

  • 1 MRC Creamy Hot Cocoa
  • 8 - 10 ounces hot coffee
  • Blend together and enjoy

MRC of Vancouver started me going in my attempt to loose 30 years of weight gain!! I have been using their program for about 18 months and have actually lost 30 pounds. I have changed the way I eat. I've learned what foods are best for ME. By analyzing my DNA and hormones, they helped me learn to eat what was right for me. I have "tweeked" my purchases and preparation of food to make eating healthy and still fun for me. I eat lots of veggies and salads and include a healthy diet of protein. These are very satisfying. Do I "cheat" now and then? Yes, but I don't like how I feel after eating sugar and lots of carbs so I return to my good foods quickly and continue to see my weight drop. I walk my little dog four times a day and have a part-time job that allows me a lot of movement. I feel so healthy and wonderful. It's easy to continue to eat and live a more healthy lifestyle! When I confessed about eating the wrong "foods", the gals simply encouraged me and gave me fresh ideas to satisfy my taste buds. I always felt I could be honest during my consultations with no fear of being lectured! I plan to continue until I reach my desired weight. I expect to reach my goal by 2017. After I reach my weight goal, I plan to remain in good health with my new found healthy way of eating the calories I need to maintain my proper weight. My Dr. is very pleased at my progress. She wondered how I have lost 30 pounds.
