
Air Fryer French Toast Sticks

You won’t have a reason to ever go back to the typical calorie-dense alternative!
We all know that mornings can be hectic, especially with school being back in session, so having tasty treats like these in your recipe arsenal are a must. You'll only need five simple everyday household ingredients- 45 calorie Bread, Egg, Butter, Cinnamon, and a sweetener of your choice! Talk about easy & convenient!
You will start by cutting your slice of bread into 3-4 strips, there are perks to both. When you cut your bread into four slices, it gives the illusion that you are having more, but you must be very delicate when preparing them as they will easily tear. When you leave the slices slightly larger by cutting your bread into three, they won’t be quite as prone to ripping. What do you do if your bread tears? Don’t worry, you’re good! Still throw those broken bits in your Air Fryer, now you will have French Toast Bites, still so yum!
Once you have your slices, you will dip them into an egg mixture, and will carefully coat each slice in the egg. You will delicately place your coated bread slice onto a plate to sprinkle them with Cinnamon and your sweetener of choice! Splenda, Truvia, Stevia, whichever you prefer.
These French Toast Sticks are sure to become a new favorite for you to whip up for yourself or as a fun healthy breakfast for the kids! And if you want to make these ahead, you absolutely can! Simply freeze your sticks in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Then you can transfer them to a freezer safe container or freezer bag. Pull the amount out as needed, and microwave on high for about 1 minute. Microwaves can vary, so check after 1 minute and continue cooking if needed.
Ingredients:
- 1 Slice of 45-50 calorie bread
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp Grass Fed butter
- Cinnamon to taste
- 2 pkg Sweetener of choice
Instructions:
- Slice 45 calorie bread into 3-4 slices.
- Melt a tablespoon of butter.
- In a small bowl, whisk egg, melted butter, 1 pkg of sweetener and a tbsp of water.
- Dip bread slices in egg and carefully coat. As the bread absorb the egg, your slices will become very fragile. Use two hands to pick up the slices and support them in the middle versus picking them up form either side.
- Place coated bread slices onto a plate and sprinkle with 1 pkg of Splenda and Cinnamon.
- Preheat your Air Fryer to 400 F, & spray basket with cooking spray.
- Cook for 4-5 minutes, flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the French Toast Sticks crisp up to a golden color.
- Serve Warm plain or with no calorie, no sugar syrup like Walden Farms.
