Make Your Dreams Come True Following the Right Mindset

Developing the right mindset is crucial for success. Legendary basketball coach John Wooden said, "Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out." Your attitude acts as your filter for thoughts and beliefs that determine how you receive and react to the world around you. Never allow a self-stereotype to creep in when trying to increase your performance and fix personal inadequacies. Developing the right mindset is the easiest way to learn something new. It allows you to redefine beliefs to help you get to where you want to be. At that point, your modified belief system becomes your new mindset.

All you need to be a happier you is a growth mindset that comes from tackling some of the challenges while following the strategies listed below:

  • Eliminate Self Doubt - As a first step, it is important to check your conscious and subconscious mind for self-limiting beliefs that could be roadblocks to changing your mindset. Happiness is a by-product of an acute awareness of oneself.
  • Never Doubt Change is Possible - It is important that you have a clear vision of your end goal and take a proactive approach to implement the changes needed to support your new mindset. Never allow information overload to support your own procrastination.
  • Invest in a Growth Mindset - The most damaging effect of a rigid mindset is the emphasis on external rewards and meaningless validations. Hanging out in a doubting social circle of people with fixed-mindsets will act as an echo chamber for discussing bad ideas.
  • It's Not a Race so Self Pace - Accept the fact that only a tiny fraction of the information out there is capable of helping you move forward. Never associate happiness with what you expect to accomplish in the future. It is a sound investment in your future, when you seek contentment in the present.

Don't become overly focused on your goals. Instead, focus on developing healthy habits to replace those that have already proven to be ineffective. Researchers at UCLA found people who visualize the process of what needed to be done in order to change their habits were more likely to adopt the habit than those who visualized the results. Experiencing a wide range of feelings, such as disappointment or grief, is not your enemy. But, it is your responsibility to prevent natural emotions from turning toxic. Changing your mindset from a fixed view of yourself to a growth mindset that sees your potential as unlimited does not happen without experiencing disappointment, so embrace setbacks.
