Traditional Soy Sauce Can Be High in Sodium

Blog Image: Traditional Soy Sauce Can Be High in Sodium

Experts no longer question the notion that the obesity epidemic in our country is driven by a population of people who are overeating; it is. Refined carbohydrates that include sugars as well as grains that have been stripped of their fiber and nutrients during food processing, are a mainstay in the American diet. But, these carbs can cause blood sugar spikes that leave you feeling hungry within a few hours of eating. Moreover, consumption of refined sugars and starches is strongly linked to the onset of chronic diseases.

High Processed Foods Are Too Accessible

New evidence suggests that overeating may driven by alterations to our food chain that have made highly processed foods more accessible and affordable; but not healthy. For example, creamy salad dressings are typically a poor choice for anyone who wants to lose weight. A small serving can contain a ton of calories. By comparison, creamy Caesar dressing contains double the calories and fat grams as compared to a vinaigrette version.

Although you wouldn't think that a drizzle of your favorite condiment could make much difference when it comes to losing weight, but you would be wrong. Most people go too far overboard and do not account for the extra calories, salt, fat or sugar that they are consuming. Soy sauce is traditionally made by fermenting soybeans and wheat. This means soy sauce is packed with healthy probiotics. Nonetheless, soy sauce can be very high in sodium, which can impact weight loss.

Limit Your Intake of Calorie-Dense Foods for Weight Control

Currently, about two thirds of the adults in the United States are considered overweight. A simple weight loss tip is to imagine yourself becoming slimmer, feeling less hungry and burning stubborn fat while enjoying your day. If you stop obsessing over food, you feel more energized and in charge of journey. Depending upon the food choices you make, you may be well on your way to shedding pounds and restoring your well-being, or not. If your goal is to shed pounds, limit your consumption of foods with a high-calorie density and substitute a naturally high-fat food that is healthier, tastier and more satisfying.
