You Cannot Out Exercise Bad Nutrition
Once you have decided to lose weight, there will be some sacrifices as well as small indulgences that must be allowed. If not, you will end up feeling deprived, which is not sustainable and only can be briefly tolerated before you will likely give up. Major weight loss changes do not happen overnight. Moreover, you cannot "out exercise" poor nutrition. Rather than making drastic changes that can leave you frustrated after a few days, make a small change each week and give yourself time to become accustomed to your new eating patterns.
Fruit Intake May Help with Weight Control
All fruit smoothies are not created the same, so don't be misled. Although it is possible to lose weight consuming fruit smoothies regularly, you have to be mindful of the type of fruit used and avoid creating a sugar bomb. Eliminating fruit can, however, backfire when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off. If you get the right balance, you can reap the benefits that fruit has to offer and still achieve your target weight.
You can enjoy fruits in moderation but focus your menu plan on eating more vegetables, especially green leafy or fibrous vegetables. If you need to cut carbs from your menu plan, start with sugars, starches and grains before eliminating antioxidant fruits like berries. It is always better to eat whole, fresh fruit over its dried or canned counterpart. Since fresh fruit contains lots of water and fiber, it can keep you feeling full and hydrated longer based on the calories consumed.
Real Foods Make for Bigger Portion Sizes
A big advantage of eating real foods is that they typically make for bigger portion sizes while providing fewer calories. This is due to the calorie-free water contained in fresh fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. By replacing processed foods in your menu plan with more whole foods, you can make strides towards managing your weight and improving your overall health. Try to develop new eating patterns and make eating real foods a habit. To learn more, contact the Metabolic Research Center to schedule your free weight-loss consultation.
