Restricted Fat Diets Should Contain Healthy Choices

Blog Image: Restricted Fat Diets Should Contain Healthy Choices

Decades ago, the reasoning that less fat in your food would translate to less fat on your body seemed intuitive. However, too many dieters thought it would be fine to gorge on large amounts of fat-free or low-fat foods, which is not true. Consuming less fat is not always the best way for some dieters to lose weight. For many people, a low-carb diet with healthy portions of unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats can produce much faster results. However, studies show that following a low-fat diet should work eventually. Like most diets, a low-fat diet that dramatically limits the macronutrient. However, a low-fat diet may not be healthy or successful for the long haul, as it may not be sustainable. A good low-carb diet or a good low-fat diet should provide plenty of healthy food choices.

Bad Carb Choices Hinder Weight Loss

Due to hundreds of taste buds dedicated to tasting sweetness, a preference for sweets starts early. However, the role of sugar in our diet is highly controversial. Bad carbohydrates with low fiber content cause problems, such as:

  • Rapidly digested simple carbohydrates that cause a spike in blood glucose levels. These spikes can trigger your pancreas to make more insulin. Insulin unlocks your cells and allows your body to store more fat.
  • Processed carbohydrates are foods where the natural ingredients have been removed or altered during the manufacturing or making of the food. Processed food to avoid include cakes, cookies and baked goods.
  • Consuming too many bad carbs, such as refined sugars, sugary drinks, baked goods and processed foods, can increase your risk of heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

Carbohydrates perform numerous roles in living organisms and the various saccharides have a key function in the human immune system, fertilization, blood clotting and overall development.

Avoid Refined Carbohydrates to Lose Belly Fat

Dieters often associate carbs with foods that are white (sugar, pasta, breads, etc.) but healthier, high-carb foods include peas, winter squash, grains, Greek yogurt and fruit. When you consume carbs, your body breaks them down into simple sugars. As your blood glucose levels rise, your pancreas releases a hormone called insulin. Insulin moves sugar from your bloodstream into your cells, where it can be burned as fuel. As molecules travel from the small intestines to the liver via the portal vein and most of the glucose is dispatched for cellular energy. If your goal is to lose belly fat fast, avoiding refined carbohydrates like sugar, candy and white bread may be sufficient, especially if you keep your intake of healthy sources of protein high.
