As a weight management concept, the calorie density of food may be simpler and more effective than counting calories. If you want to lose weight, limit your consumption of foods with a high-calorie density. Instead, substitute a naturally high-fat food that is healthy when consumed in smaller quantities. A cup of black beans packs fifteen grams of protein and zero saturated fat found in other protein sources like red meat. When you choose foods with low calorie density, it will make losing weight easier.

Processed Granola Bars Cause Weight Gain

Typically, when you think about a fruit snack, you're probably picturing a handful of dried fruit combined with a healthy protein like nuts or seeds. Nonetheless, eating too much processed fruit like in granola bars can lead to unwanted weight gain. Although fruit contains carbohydrates and natural sugars, completely ditching fruit is not necessary to lose weight. If you consume fruits that add nutrients, antioxidants and fiber, it can be an important for dietary balance.

Beware of premade fruit smoothies sold in stores. These can be loaded with added sugar and drinking one of these every day could sabotage your weight loss plan. Nonetheless, you can avoid drinking a sugar bomb by making your fruit smoothies yourself. Many natural substances in fruit, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber and pre-biotics are good for health and wellness as they protect against chronic diseases while helping you manage your weight.

Whole Foods Typically Have Far Fewer Calories

A recent study found that overweight adults who ate more fruit also lost more weight during the trial. Real foods typically have fewer calories per gram than processed foods as well as increase your feelings of fullness. Foods that are high in volume and reduce your appetite include pumpkin, cucumbers, berries and air-popped popcorn. A big advantage of eating real foods is that they typically make for bigger portion sizes while providing fewer calories. This is due to the calorie-free water contained in fresh fruits, vegetables and lean proteins.
