Optimize Your Results with a New Mindset

Blog Image: Optimize Your Results with a New Mindset

If your goal is keep something bad from happening, you may be avoiding important opportunities to grow. You have to be willing to fail to move forward. Although it may not be as simple as reversing the way you speak to yourself, greeting negative thoughts (without allowing your inner critic to fling accusations) is an important step when adopting a growth mindset. Optimizing your life is all about developing healthy habits to tackle challenges with growth mindsets, rather than making excuses for why you can't. Author Sean Stephenson wrote, "Fairness is an illusion. No one in life gets less or more than anyone else. We just get different stuff... It's up to you to find your gift."

Since your mindset is one thing you control, here are some tips on how to make changes to manage new challenges:

  • Identify Counter Mindsets - As a first step, it is important to check your conscious and subconscious mind for self-limiting beliefs that could be roadblocks.
  • Accept Your Reality - Accept the fact that only a tiny fraction of the information out there is capable of helping you move forward.
  • Believe in Change - Change your mindsets to focus on what you intend to accomplish with your newly defined goals.
  • Nothing is Predestined - Adopt a mindset that allows you to stumble one day and optimistically try again the next.
  • Adjust Your Mindset - Understanding the difference between rigid and flexible mindsets is the starting point for getting where you want to be.
  • Focus on Your Pace - Growth comes from setting and following good strategies, such as practicing good eating and sleep habits.
  • Invest in the New You - Cognitive, affective and behavioral components impact your achievements based upon the flexibility of your beliefs.

Successful change comes from a responsiveness to take honest feedback and work harder to overcome new challenges. Learning about fixed and growth mindsets will allow you to change destructive patterns that may have been limiting your potential in life. Pick your most logical starting point. If there is a habit that you previously tried to establish but somehow let it slip away, renewing that challenge and seeing it through will provide a greater sense of self-efficacy. Once you accept that mistakes are normal and should be expected when tackling difficult challenges, you will be more willing to take additional risks. There is a great sense of accomplishment that you will feel once you've achieved success.
