It's Time to Restore Your Health and Wellness

It helps to find a weight loss clinic or center that has experience in helping people make the necessary lifestyle changes to lose weight and keep it off. Simply having a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant monitor your progress may not achieve the results you desire. The goal at most science-based centers is to work with you to identify any physical and emotional obstacles that might hinder your efforts to reach your specific goals for improving your health. The right clinic can provide support and encouragement to ensure you reach your weight loss goals to restore your health and well-being. If you heard that skipping meals is a fast way to lose weight, you heard it from someone who doesn't understand that what you eat does matter.

Diet Pills Should Not Be Taken During Pregnancy

Unless you have been diagnosed as severely obese, even prescription weight loss pills can put your health in harm's way, so seek medical supervision. Unfortunately, it is estimated that half of the people who meet the criteria for an eating disorder have used over-the-counter products without weight loss supervision. Weight loss drugs and diet supplements should not be taken during pregnancy. In most cases, a certain amount of additional weight (not weight loss) is medically recommended for pregnant women, including those women who are overweight or obese that do not have specific health risks. Since obesity can be a chronic life-long problem for many overweight individuals, they can end up taking weight loss medications for the rest of their life.

Obesity Surgery Does Not Negate Other Changes

Although long-term weight loss success can require a serious surgical procedure, most people who have had a gastric bypass or other bariatric surgeries say they would do it again to feel better, be more active and take fewer medications to treat complications related to their obesity. However, after obesity surgery, you will still need to make lifelong changes to how you eat and drink. In fact, you may have to eliminate foods that contain simple sugars (candy, juices, soft drinks, ice cream, etc.), as these can lead to a dumping syndrome where food moves through too quickly. Exercise routines following bariatric surgery are different for everyone. Nonetheless, modest exercise activities are always preferred over intense or painful workouts.

Weight Loss Requires Hard Work and Commitment

Any weight loss clinic that does not offer lifestyle counseling and behavioral treatments to help you learn how to make smart choices is likely a waste of time and money. Science-based weight loss centers help you learn techniques to manage common causes of obesity. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned that obesity is reaching epidemic proportions in the United States and requires specialized care involving weight-loss professionals for long-term success. If you are interested in being a member of a weight loss center, check out their programs online to make certain they genuinely care about your health and well-being. Moreover, take a few minutes to read about client's success stories on their website.
