Hormone Imbalance Can Lead to Additional Imbalances

Blog Image: Hormone Imbalance Can Lead to Additional Imbalances

Hormonal balance plays a significant role in keeping you feeling your best. Chronic stressors like unpaid bills, work deadlines, traffic on the roadway, sleep deprivation, going through a divorce or being sick can lead to high cortisol production. Cortisol has a profound effect on your entire body. It affects your endocrine system, which produces thyroid hormone, insulin hormone as well as your sex hormones. When testosterone and progesterone hormone production are low, normal estrogen levels can still result in a state of estrogen dominance because of the relative amounts of sex hormones available. Imbalances can contribute to weight gain, brain fog, loss of libido, sugar cravings, uncontrolled stress and a host of other health problems.

Sleep Disparity Can Trigger Unhealthy Cycles

Research studies have shown that during the years preceding menopause, when hormone levels are declining, women are more likely to experience sleep disturbances. When you wake up throughout the night, you are not spending enough time in REM sleep, which can lead to health issues and weight gain. When a sleep disorder is mild, it can cause men or women to have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. Left untreated, it can cause their body to produce excessive amounts of adrenaline to compensate for low thyroid hormone. Good sleep hygiene strategies can help both men and women having sleep problems at any stage of his or her life.

Consuming the Right Macro and Micronutrients

Hormonal imbalance can occur at any stage of life and both men and women experience imbalances like unwanted weight gain, high cortisol levels, low estrogen hormone, weight loss resistance, or low testosterone levels. Increased cortisol production raises the heart rate, increases alertness and makes you stronger. It also tells your body to stop focusing on immediate needs, like digesting food, sleeping and defending against disease. Even worrying about something in your mind can raise cortisol levels and feed chronic stress. Eating a clean diet that is free of preservatives and processed foods is ideal, but it is not always practical. Your unique deficiencies can best be adjusted by supplements that delivers the macro and micronutrients your body requires.
