Vegans and those who are lactose intolerant will be delighted to know that there are plenty of healthy and tasty alternatives to cow's milk. Here are just a few for your consideration.

Soy Milk

Soy Milk is rich in protein; in fact, it has more protein than any other type of milk besides cow's milk. Additionally, soy milk contains unsaturated fat and is rich in antioxidants.

Cashew Milk

Cashew milk's creamy texture makes it an ideal addition to both sweet and savory dishes. You can also drink it on its own or add it to a cup of coffee. However, be aware that this type of milk contains little protein and plenty of fat, making it a less than ideal cow's milk substitute if you are trying to lose weight.

Rice Milk

Rice Milk contains little protein and 2 grams of fat per cup. Even so, it can be a great addition to desserts, soups and certain types of sauce. Alternatively, you can drink it on its own or add it to homemade milkshakes.

Hemp Milk

Hemp milk has a strong taste that tends to put people off; however, don't pass this type of milk up simply because you can't drink it on its own. Hemp milk is rich in omega-3 fats and protein and makes a great addition to various savory dishes.

Almond Milk

Almond milk is rich in calcium and vitamin A and contains only 2.5 grams of fat per serving. Add it to milkshakes, coffee or sweet dishes for extra flavor, or simply drink a cup on its own from time to time.
