How I lost 100 pounds - Q&A with Karen B
Feeling like you need some motivation to kick-of 2015? This story will be just the inspiration that you need. Karen B. started her weight loss journey in May, and within 7 months has already lost over 100 pounds!
We interviewed Karen regarding her journey. Here is her story:
“A year ago today I was so depressed I could barely get off the couch. Except to get junk food. I was feeling very hopeless about the weight I had gained. I NEVER thought that would happen to me. I felt insecure and uncomfortable all the time. I had stopped being a person and had become the number I weighted. I stopped living life. My family was in despair about what to do. I was WAY to stubborn to listen to them. Then a crazy thing happened, I finally got sick of being "sick".
I checked into weight loss surgeries and didn't tell anyone at first. Went to a couple different seminars with a dear friend. After much consideration I decided to try and do it naturally one last time. My sister told me about Metabolic Research Center and the success her friend had. I checked it out and LOVED it. Yes it was expensive BUT getting diabetes or cancer or another health issue is very expensive too!
I started believing in myself again. I started to feel I was WORTH it. Something I hadn't felt in a REALLY long time. My amazing sister and birth Dad helped me financially to get the start up funds. My sister also got me into do doing 5K races. My first one this past summer I trained for in 2 & 1/2 weeks and had only lost 17 pounds. I got to cross the finish line with my birth Dad and it was emotional. I’ve walked 2 more 5K's and I was hooked. I can't wait for nicer weather to get out there!
I started this journey on May 1st. As of January 1st, 8 months later I have lost over 107 pounds! It still shocks me. I haven't cheated once. I have come VERY close a couple of times. I am telling you all of this because I am sure there are other people out there that are feeling the same way I did. I just want to let them know that if I can do it, ANYONE can! Whether you have 20 lbs or 200 lbs there are resources and support out there! I hope this reaches someone and lets them know THEY CAN DO IT!!!!!”
Along with this wonderful testimony regarding Karens experience, we asked her some additional questions. Here is what she had to say:
What aspects of MRC were appealing to you prior to starting?
“The fact the MRC has a holistic approach was really important to me. And the one-on-one support is huge!”
Any tips you would give to someone just starting their journey with MRC?
“Pre-plan. I strongly suggest pre-planning your meals as this has really helped me stay on track.”
What are your favorite MRC products?
“I love the Vanilla Crème Pudding! Pomegranate and Grape are also two of my favorite protein drinks, as well as the Caramel Nut Bars.”
How do you feel about the staff at MRC Vancouver? How have they helped you along your journey?

Jacqueline (the Manager) is so friendly and easy to talk to and brings out that tough love without being “too tough”. They provide just the combination of support I need.”
Do you have any regrets?
“No. Absolutely no regrets.”
What advice would you give to someone in who might be in the place you were back in May?
“It’s not as overwhelming as it seems. It’s not depriving. You have to be mentally ready and you can absolutely do it, no problem.”

"One of my favorite dishes is something I actually created! It's a Taste of Home recipe which I modified to fit in my program; "Chicken with Pineapple Sauce". - (we will post this recipe later in the week for your use)
