Play Outside With Kids To Get More Exercise
When people think of exercise, they often think of it as work and would do anything possible to avoid it. One of the best ways to avoid this type of thinking is to exercise with the kids in the yard. Instead of spending hours in a gym, using machines that look like crazed metal aliens, spend time playing games with the kids. Exercise is an extremely important part of a healthy lifestyle. Without it, the body begins to function at a much slower rate. Reduced levels of energy can make the day seem to drag on forever. Excess weight can begin to build up causing even more physical discomfort.
Instead of looking at exercise as a chore, look at it as quality time spent with the kids. Start a game of kick ball or stick ball. Not only will it raise your activity level, it will help you teach good sportsmanship and a sense of fair play. Spending quality time with your kids is essential if you want to maintain a solid, positive relationship with them. Don't have kids of your own? Every recreational department and church league are always recruiting coaches. So, volunteer for a local kids' sports program.
You don't have to always play games to get good exercise. Turn lawn chores into a challenge. See who can get the most amount of work done in a specific amount of time. Give each child a task and see who can complete on time, while doing the best job possible. Turn up the music and let the back yard clean up time turn into a party. With a little quick thinking, you can come up with a variety of activities that not only make for a fun day with the kids, but will also raise your heart rate and get you jumping.
