Over the years, you’ve attempted to lose weight more times than you can count. Like many other people, you’ve also spent an exorbitant amount of money on fad diets. You even initially lost weight while adhering to a few of these trendy diet plans. But, you often gained more weight than you lost once you quit them. If you can relate to this common scenario, you might wonder if you’ll ever achieve your weight loss goals. Losing weight shouldn’t be rocket science. Armed with the right tools, you can trim your waistline and own the life you were destined to live.

The key to losing weight involves learning some simple math. You must burn more calories each day than you consume. Many people mistakenly believe they must eat tiny amounts of food and exercise excessively in order to expend more calories than they consume. Thankfully, this misconception couldn’t be further from the truth.

While regular exercise is important, you should always schedule a couple of rest days each week. Your muscles and joints need time to recover. And, you don’t necessarily have to eat less food. You simply must alter your food choices. Instead of purchasing calorie, sugar, fat, and sodium laden processed foods, shop for:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Lean meats
  • Low-fat dairy products
  • Nuts
  • Seeds 

Also, strive to swap high calorie beverages such as sodas, fruit juices, and alcohol for water. You might be surprised at how many calories you consume each day from your favorite drinks.

While changing your eating habits may be challenging, it isn’t impossible. Once you start enjoying the tastes and textures of real, healthy foods, your yearning for processed foods containing numerous, harmful ingredients you can’t pronounce will likely decrease. Even better, the scales will start moving in your desired direction.
