While garlic certainly does not have all the powers that have been ascribed to it, scientific research has clearly shown that it does have a number of medicinal properties. Garlic can protect you from cardiovascular conditions and can be used to treat health issues such as hardened arteries, high cholesterol and hypertension. Garlic also protects blood cells and vessels from inflammation and oxidation.
Additionally, garlic boosts the immune system and is a great remedy for colds and coughs. The antioxidants found in this herb can protect you from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and even improve bone health in women. Furthermore, garlic is rich in many of the nutrients your body needs to maintain overall good health, including manganese, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, selenium and fiber.
Garlic is an extremely versatile herb that can be used in just about any type of cooking. It adds flavor to meat, pasta, rice, soups and many other dishes. You can chop it in small pieces and fry it, cut it up and put it in baked dishes or even throw it in whole in food boiling on the stove. You can use as much or as little of this herb as you like, but do be sure to eat at least some garlic every single day so you can take advantage of all the health benefits it has to offer.
