Resolve to Be a Healthier You
Resolutions aren't just for New Year's Eve. We can make solid resolutions any time of year to enact a healthy change in our life. Even now, before the holidays, a few resolutions can make a big difference in how we feel and how we measure our success.
Resolutions for a Healthier You
In order to live your healthiest life now, choose one or more of these resolutions to begin living your healthiest life right now.
- Eat vegetarian once a week. If you aren't already, preparing at least one vegetarian meal a week is a great way to get more fresh, whole vegetables into your diets. Vegetarian dishes such as veggie lasagna, noodle dishes, Indian cuisine, or even a hearty lentil chili can be satisfying meals that the entire family will love. Vegetarian cookbooks or Internet recipes can provide plenty of inspiration.
- Meal plan around your vegetables, not your protein. Often when we plan dinner we think "what goes with chicken?" Instead, try planning around a vegetable superstar like spaghetti squash or roasted cauliflower.
- Invest in yourself: Small changes can create massive momentum. If you aren't already enrolled in a gym or an activity program, then find one right away. We typically think of gym time as all treadmill and no fun, but it doesn't have to be that way. Try a yoga or a Zumba class. Enroll in six weeks of water aerobics. These small changes to your weekly routine will snowball to massive change down the line. Enlist a friend to join you to increase the sense of reward.
Resolutions don't have to be life changing to have an overall positive effect. Small changes are easier to stick with and over time, will positively shape your life.
