Understanding Weight Loss Failure
There are hundreds of diets for people to try and even more meal plans that can help them improve their diet. So, why do so many people fail at losing weight, even when they so desperately want? It isn't so much the diet or the meals; it's their commitment to doing what needs to be done and doing it the right way that often sabotages their effort.
Don't Expect Immediate Results
Many people, women especially, will begin to get discouraged if they don't see some form of immediate results. They feel that because they are putting in so much effort, they should be rewarded with some type of immediate result. That isn't always true and it is the main reason that many end up losing their motivation. Instead of seeking immediate gratification, look at the big picture and focus on what you are doing, not what you are seeing.
Avoid Constant Monitoring
One of the worst things a person can do when they are trying to lose weight is to constantly hop on the scale or monitor their calories. A person's weight will fluctuate as more muscle is created and more fat is lost. Muscle weighs more than fat and your numbers will not be pleasing in the beginning. Relax. Weigh yourself once a week or every two weeks. The constant fluctuations won't drive you nuts and you will start to feel better about your results.
Unreasonable Weight Loss Expectations
Don't go into a weight loss program and think it's going to happen overnight. If you want to lose weight and keep it off for the long term, you need to build healthy habits. That will take a few months, so don't depend on the quick fix. If you do, you will be disappointed.
