Benefits of Losing Weight This Year

What is so special about January 1? Sure, it’s the start of the new year and the first day to make progress on your new year’s resolutions. But this is not the only time during the year you can start your weight loss journey. What’s wrong with February 1? Or next Tuesday? Or tomorrow?   1. Lower your cholesterol: If you start to eat right and exercise just 30 minutes a day, you will start to see your good cholesterol levels (HDL) rise which will fight off your bad cholesterol levels (LDL). Think of it this way, losing 10 pounds can decrease your cholesterol by 10%.

  2. Lower your blood pressure: When a doctor is taking your blood pressure, they are measuring how much pressure is on your artery walls and the more plaque buildup in your arteries, the higher your blood pressure.

  3. Reduce your risk of heart attacks: The perfect recipe for a heart attack is high blood pressure and bad cholesterol. When start to exercise a few times a week and eat healthy, whole foods you will significantly reduce your risk of a heart attack.

  4. Avoid joint pain: Those extra few pounds are putting more pressure on your joints. For every pound you are overweight, it puts three times the pressure on your knees. Ouch!

  5. More energy: This is probably our favorite benefit of losing weight. Yes, you will look better but the way you feel is even better. You will start to have more energy than you ever thought possible.
