Use the Same Color - There have been several studies where researchers documented participants dishing out less food when using a plate or bowl that matched the color of the tablecloth.
Avoid Distractions When Eating - In a research study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, participants who ate snacks while playing a card game consumed twice as much food but reported feeling less full than those who were not distracted.
Section Food Into Smaller Pieces - At Arizona State University, researchers served two groups of participants an endless amount of bagels. Some received whole bagels while others were given bagels that had been cut into four pieces. Those who were served cut bagels consumed less.
