Make Your Scales Happy... Eat Healthy!
You need exercise. There’s no doubt about that. However, it’s not the only thing you need. In addition to physical activity, you need to eat the combinations of foods that will help you permanently lose weight. The main function of exercise is to burn excess nutrients that have already been converted into fat. It also can encourage movement of food waste through your digestive system. However, even with regular physical activity, you might not lose weight as fast as you would like without changing your eating habits.
Small Changes Can Make a Huge Difference
Sometimes, all you need is a small change. For instance, you can use portion control to reduce the number of carbohydrates that you consume. At the same time, you can increase fruit and vegetable intake. If you do eat carbs, you are advised to switch to the whole grain, higher-fiber ones in order to further keep unwanted fat off your body.
Another minor dieting adjustment you might need to make is to find healthier sources of fat to eat. For instance, you might want to try avocado, nuts, seeds or lean meats. These foods usually are high in amino acids and proteins, but they are low in saturated fat. Cutting out all foods such as potato chips, donuts or chicken fried in partially hydrogenated oil also helps.
Think "Whole" Foods
If you are not sure what foods are healthy to eat for your body, just think “whole.” Consume foods that are their most natural state possible – food just harvested from the garden and placed on a grocery shelf. Otherwise, if they are preserved items, you will want to make sure they are frozen ones with as few additives and artificial ingredients as possible. Avoid most canned and boxed foods that contain high levels of sodium or sugar, too.
