One of the golden rules everyone must follow in order to live a healthy lifestyle is simple: plan. In everything you do, you must go in with a plan.

First, let’s talk food. You are hungry and need to eat. You may be tired and don’t feel like preparing a meal, let alone a healthy meal. So you either head out for fast food or settle for something unhealthy from home. Fail. To prevent this from happening, plan out a menu for the week ahead and stick to it. We recommend that you set aside an hour every weekend to plan your meals for the week ahead and make a grocery list. You don’t need a long list of crazy ingredients, and remember, leftovers are delicious. A good time-saving tip is to plan a menu of 4 or 5 delicious dinners for the week and double the ingredients so you can take your leftovers for lunch the next day.

Now, let’s talk exercise. Planning is so important when it comes to exercise. Without a plan, many of us tend to make excuses and go without. Sign up for a 5k in your area and making a training schedule leading up to race day. Just knowing that the event is coming up will motivate you to get off the couch. Do you pass your gym on the way home from work? Make sure to pack your workout clothes in the morning so you don’t have any excuse not to make that 6 o’clock spin class on your way home.
