One of the best ways to ensure that you are getting enough nutrients is to eat colorful meals. Fruits and vegetables will not only add color to your plate but also provide you with valuable nutrients that you cannot find in protein and carbohydrate rich foods. While you do not have to eat all the colors of the rainbow for every single meal, make sure your diet plan is colorful by eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every single day.

There are many simple yet effective ways in which you can add color to your diet plan. Adding a slice of tomato and a leaf of lettuce to your sandwich does not take much work, makes your food taste better and adds extra nutrition to your meal. Try different kinds of salad to see which ones you like best. Eat fruit salad for snack or juice different fruits together for a tasty mixed fruit juice or smoothie. If you prefer cooked vegetables to raw ones, try stir-frying various vegetables together. You can even add these vegetables to your rice or noodles for a tasty, healthy one pot meal.

Vitamin supplements add extra nutrition to your diet; however, they should not take the place of eating healthy foods that contain the nutrients you need. Thankfully, there are so many different types of fruits and vegetables to pick from that even the pickiest eater can learn how to enjoy a colorful diet.
