New Year is the most popular time of year for setting resolutions. People seem to rally with good intentions to become healthier, lose weight, exercise more, eat better, stop smoking, etc. But, setting a resolution and knowing how to get started are different tasks. 

Whether you're among the millions who have announced their resolution or just someone who is interested in making 2016 the healthiest year possible, experts agree that starting the new year with an annual physical that includes certain wellness screenings is great start to a better you.

If your health is deemed to be fine, you have a record that changes in your health can be measured against for the rest of the year. In addition, your health care provider can review your current medications and make adjustments as well as provide a risk assessment for chronic conditions, especially for those where you have a family history.
