The Road to a Balanced and Healthy Diet

People starting Balanced Diet

Gaining weight is very easy to do. Since we all know how to pack on a few pounds, you would think that losing weight was just as easy. If you simply quit eating your favorite fattening foods, you will stop gaining weight, but it does not mean that weight loss is around the corner. Switching into fat burning mode takes more effort.

The Cornerstones of a Healthy Lifestyle

When we burn more calories than we consume, we lose weight. Unfortunately, this is more complicated than it seems. The healthiest people have the following characteristics in common:

  • A Healthy Diet - A balanced, healthy diet is more than simply putting down that fast food chicken tender or sandwich. Filling your cart and planning meals around real food is the first step toward a healthy lifestyle. Combining lean proteins with plenty of fresh vegetables and whole grains can provide the fuel you need to get through the day while keeping you satisfied.
  • An Active Lifestyle - Many of our current occupations center around desk work, which keeps us inactive for most of the day. Incorporating as much activity into our days as possible helps to increase muscle mass and heart health.
  • Few Bad Habits - Nighttime snacking, television or video game binges, smoking, or drinking alcohol in excess are just a few of the common bad habits that can sabotage health and weight loss. Giving these up can make an immediate positive impact on your health.

Most of all, support does matter. Whether a friend, a spouse or a professional assists with your weight loss journey, having a companion can make a difficult road easier. When faced with an obstacle, reach out to someone who can provide the support you need.

My relationship with Metabolic Research center began Feb 2010 when I weighed 182 lbs and had high blood pressure. I lost a total of 69 lbs and 72 inches. It has been 6 years and I continue to maintain my weight. I owe my continued success to MRC and all the great classes, especially yoga and the continued support that I receive from the staff. I have learned that food is nothing but fuel for the body and just as with your car you need to give it the right fuel in order for it to run proper. Follow the program and it is possible to loose the weight and maintain it. Nothing tastes as great as healthy feels!
