The seeds of this super fruit are the only part of the fruit that can be eaten and they are rich in fiber, Vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. What is more, pomegranates decrease the risk of heart disease and of getting certain types of cancer.

Pomegranates can be eaten on their own; all you have to do is cut open the fruit and eat he seeds. However, snacking on pomegranates from time to time will not enable you to fully benefit from all that this fruit has to offer. If you really want to get the most out of pomegranates, it is a good idea to look for ways to add them to various dishes. Pomegranates can easily be added to a fruit smoothie or cocktail; they can also be added to various types of salads. Pomegranates can even be added to a number of dishes such as rice pilaf, chicken stew, pork roast, lamb chops relish, sweet potato slices and even pizza. Naturally, there are also many deserts that can be made using this versatile fruit; these include cheesecake, scones and pie.

Maintaining a healthy diet does not mean limiting yourself to only eating certain foods at certain times. While you will want to avoid junk foods that have little or no nutritional value, there are plenty of exotic, scrumptious dishes that you can enjoy while still losing weight. Pomegranates are ideal in that they can take any dish and give it an exotic, tasty taste. Just as importantly, this fruit contains many of the nutrients you need in order to stay fit and healthy now and in the future.
