Sometimes it’s difficult to prepare dinner after a long, hectic day. It’s easier to simply order takeout, but it’s healthier to cook your own food. Of course, preparing dinner can feel like a juggling act, but it’s easier to find the time to cook at home with a few helpful tips.

Tip #1 – Make Double Batches

If you’re going to take the time to cook something healthy, make a double batch. Simply double the recipe and store your extras in the freezer. You’ll be able to whip out the second half for an easy dinner later.

Tip #2 – Do Double Duty on Chopping

Chopping can take quite a bit of time, so if you’re going to be chopping up veggies, do double duty. Chop extra veggies and freeze them. Whenever you need those chopped veggies again, they’ll be waiting for you in the freezer. This also helps you use up produce before it goes bad in the fridge, saving you money too.

Tip #3 – Make Use of Leftovers

If you have leftovers, make sure that you use them. Leftovers are great for lunches the next day, or you may have enough for another dinner. Just make sure you use them in a couple days or put them in th freezer if you need to store them longer. 

Tip #4 – Plan in Advance

When you want to save time while cooking healthy meals at home, take the time to plan in advance. It’s one of the best ways to ensure you stick to healthy fare instead of giving in and going out. Plan a menu at the beginning of the week and make sure you have all the ingredients on hand so you don’t have to add extra shopping trips to your busy schedule.
