Cruciferous Vegetables

We are what we eat and if we consume healthy foods we become healthier then when we don't consume healthy foods. Cruciferous vegetables offer a lot of healthy extras like lutein, zeaxanthin, folate, and vitamins such as C, E, and K. In addition to all the good stuff, these vegetables offer even more. They are a good source of Soluble fiber, which helps to absorb fat and sugar before our bodies can use them.

What are Cruciferous vegetables?

This family of veggies is very large. It contains some very well-known and easily available foods such as collard greens, cauliflower, rutabaga, turnips, and even horseradish and wasabi.

Cruciferous vegetables are rich in carotenoids and nutrients that our body can use to prevent or fight cancer. Cruciferous vegetables belong to the mustard family (Brassicaceae), and they contain some very common vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and Kale.

Do Cruciferous vegetables help?

The answer is that these vegetables likely play a role in cancer prevention. Here is how.

Eating more of these foods provides a bioavailability of all of their cancer-fighting goodness to our body. In short, our body becomes better at fighting off cancer when we eat cruciferous foods.
