Stopping the aging process is impossible, but there are several super foods that you can add to your diet to dramatically slow it down. Many of the foods you already like can be a "super food". The key is to purchase them when they are fresh and have not undergone any type of processing. Most of these super foods listed below are easy to find and even easier to prepare.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is rich in omega 3 fatty acids that help to control cholesterol and provide antioxidants to slow down the damage caused by free radicals within the body.

Blueberries

Blueberries (along with their counterparts: raspberries, blackberries and cranberries) have high levels of antioxidants. They are also high in vitamin C that helps to boost the immune system and fight infections. The darker the color of the berry, the more potent they are when it comes to the amount of antioxidants.

Fish

Fresh fish, especially salmon, is full of omega 3 fatty acids. They also contain numerous vitamins, minerals and proteins that are essential for muscle growth and brain function.

Leafy Greens

Spinach and kale, as well as most other leafy greens, contain large amounts of antioxidants. They also contain various minerals that they draw from the soil in which they are grown, including trace amounts of zinc, selenium and magnesium. All of these are needed by the body for proper function and tissue growth.

Poultry

Turkey and chicken are excellent choices for individuals who are trying to lose weight. Poultry is not marbled with fat so it can be easily cut in right-size portions of protein rich meat. Poultry also contains high levels of vitamin B-6.

Whole Grains

Whole grain foods are full of fiber and help the body to clear itself of fats, cholesterol, unnecessary toxins and waste. They are also rich in vitamins and minerals.
