Exercising But Not Losing Weight?
If you have been exercising and are thinking about quitting because you aren't seeing results, you aren't alone. People start fitness routines all the time, go at it for a while then stop when they see that the scale isn't moving. They may even start to believe that they can't lose weight.
This is rarely, if ever, the case.
Exercise is important, not just for weight loss, but for overall health. It burns calories, boosts metabolism and builds lean muscle which in turn burns more calories. But, if you do not combine exercise with dietary changes, you may not see the results you want. It isn't about cutting calories, either. It is about the quality of food you are eating. If you are still consuming foods high in sugar, low-quality carbs and overly processed, you will not see the weight loss results you are looking for, no matter how much you are working out. Cutting calories isn't necessarily the answer here. If your body is not getting quality nutrients to support your exercise routine, it may just hold on to fat instead of burning it.
The best way to go is to eat a balanced diet that is right for you. Whole, healthy foods that are low in refined sugars and grains, with plenty of healthy fats and fresh, green veggies. Combined with a good exercise routine, you should start seeing results. Finally, if you have been eating healthy and working out, but your weight loss has hit a plateau, it may be time to up your intensity level and challenge yourself more.
