If you’re ready to lose a few pounds, you probably start looking at your diet. While this is definitely a great place to start your weight loss plan, you may need to change more than just what you’re eating. There’s a good chance that you’re taking in a lot of unneeded calories from the drinks you’re choosing, such as coffee drinks, energy drinks, sodas, and iced teas. Here’s a look at how you can make healthier drink choices to improve your weight loss results.

Tip #1  - Increase Water Intake

If you haven’t been drinking a lot of water, it may feel difficult to increase your water intake, so start slowly. Drink a bit more water each day. Your brain and body will start adapting and you’ll soon start craving the amazing feeling you get when you consume plenty of water. It’s great for quenching your thirst and staving off hunger pangs.

Tip #2 - Pay Attention to Ingredients

When choosing your drinks, pay attention to the ingredients. Some drinks may seem healthy, but they may be packed with sugar and hidden calories. Make sure you pay attention to serving sizes too, since you could be drinking multiple servings at once, increasing your calorie intake. 

Tip #3  - Go Beyond Juicing

Sure, juicers have the potential to create some great drinks, especially when you compare them to sodas and other sugary drinks. However, when you strain out the outer skin or pulp, you lose out on essential minerals and vitamins. Make sure that you’re still eating plenty of fresh veggies and fruits.

Tip #4  - Add Smoothies Instead of Sodas

Instead of having that afternoon soda or having a soda with your meal, consider whipping up your own smoothies. Add some frozen fruit with no added sugar to some low-fat Greek yogurt for a delicious, healthy drink you’ll enjoy.

Unfortunately, drinking your calories just isn’t as satisfying as eating them. Take the time to think about what you’re drinking and you’ll find it easier to reach your weight loss goals.
