To understand how eating more and not less food works, we will explain the metabolism process. First of all, a 500-calorie deficient can help you burn fat. However, eating a dangerously low amount of food, such as 1000 calories, less than you should causes your body to starve.

Recommended Foods to Help You Lose Weight

You can eat more to lose weight. However, you must choose the food you eat wisely. Some recommended choices for you to include are as follows:

  • Lean meats – Eating meat with less fat on it helps you consume less fat. Thus, your body taps into its stored fat causing you to burn more of it off of you.
  • Nuts and seeds – Like lean meats, some nuts and seeds have less saturated fat in them than certain lower-quality meats. As a result, you can burn more of the fat from your body. Some seeds such as flax or chia also provide you with fiber you need to expel waste.
  • Fruits and vegetables – These contain various antioxidants to keep your immune system strong. In addition, the fiber in them can regulate your digestive system and cause you to absorb nutrients.
  • Whole grains – Instead of white bread, this category of foods provides you with enough fiber to help you burn fat and eliminate waste from your system. It also helps you feel full and gives you energy.

When your body is in starvation mode, it causes your metabolism rate to drop. This happens particularly to survivors who might be stranded somewhere without food. The purpose of this is to use your bodily resources to keep you alive for as long as possible. However, the slowed metabolism that occurs if you starve your body is part of what can cause you to gain weight because it offsets food consumption rates.
