Green Smoothie


Vegetables, specifically leafy green vegetables, are rich in fiber, an important nutrient for weight loss and maintenance because it helps control your hunger. For some Americans, the only vegetables they eat during the day are the lettuce, tomato and onion that comes on their sandwich at lunch. We recommend starting off your day with a green smoothie that will keep you feeling light, full, and energized all morning long.

Throw some leafy greens and frozen fruit into a blender and you have yourself a delicious breakfast smoothie.

 Start with a cup of kale, collards or spinach, add a banana, an apple and a handful of pineapple chunks. If all of your ingredients are frozen, then add 1 to 2 cups of water and blend. If your ingredients are fresh, then just add a handful of ice cubes. If you want to make your smoothie extra creamy, add half an avocado or an extra frozen banana.


Tip: Buy your smoothie ingredients for the week ahead and prep multiple servings at one time by placing each serving into a frozen ziploc bag and store it in your freezer. Then each morning, just add the contents from one bag into your blender, add some water, blend, and enjoy.
