Warning.. Warning.. It's a Drive Thru!
For as long as you can remember, you’ve wanted to lose weight. But, like many other people, your family, work, and social responsibilities keep you stressed, tired, and hungry most of the time. Far too often, you eat dinner out of a sack after visiting the drive thru window of one of your favorite fast food restaurants. If you can relate to this bothersome scenario, don’t lose hope. To lose the weight and keep it off for life, you simply must change the way you view what constitutes fast food.
Nowadays, many fast food restaurant chains are touting healthy menu options. Unfortunately, many of these selections are nowhere close to being waistline friendly. For instance, restaurant salads are often loaded with stomach expanding items such as:
- Shredded cheese
- Greasy dressings
Restaurant baked potatoes are often laden with health harming salt, butter, and sour cream. While your favorite fast food joint’s hamburgers and French fries might be void of devastating trans-fat these days, they are still weighted down with calories, salt, and saturated fat. Plus, they’re bereft of health enhancing vitamins and minerals. Instead of falling into the fast food restaurant trap, consider leaning how to prepare nutrient dense, quick meals at home.
Cooking healthy doesn’t require you to stand in front of a hot stove all day long. In fact, the truth is quite the opposite. Many figure slimming meals can be whipped up in under 30 minutes. For example, the following entrees take mere minutes to prepare:
- Broiled tilapia
- Chicken stir-fry
- Tuna salad
- Chicken spaghetti with whole grain pasta
- Sautéed shrimp
Besides helping you stick to your weight loss goals, cooking at home will also probably allow you to save some money. Prepare more food than you need for one meal so you can enjoy eating leftovers the next day. Before you know it, you will likely need to shop for smaller sizes of clothing. And, you may feel better and more energetic than you ever have before.
