I started out thinking that there was no way I could make it, but I was quickly proven wrong! I was so successful and I just kept losing weight week after week.
The program was very doable and worked with my lifestyle. If you are reading this I want to say to you--don't settle, there is hope for you! Believe in yourself, you deserve this.
An Interview with Kim
1. Tell us about that moment you decided it was time to lose weight.
My ah-ha moment came in December 2013. I had been thinking about what changes I could make to be healthier and lose weight. I was 41 at the time, and the heaviest I had ever been. My mom was 45 when she discovered she had diabetes. I didn't want that for myself! That is one of the main reasons I wanted to change, but the other was that I was tired of being the "fat kid in class". I do hate the word "fat" but it is what it is! It was time to move!
My prayer was that God would make it clear to me what I needed to do. I didn't know what that looked like, but did know it would require a program of some kind. After I started praying about it, I ran into two acquaintances that had started Metabolic. I couldn't discount that as a coincidence! Not to mention, the center is in the same complex as my office! So that night I got online and made contact with the office to call me for a consultation.
2. What's changed for you since losing weight?
I never let my weight slow me down. I was still pretty active and could do anything I put my mind to. I wasn't going to sit on the sidelines! However, it does really suck when your hips are too wide for a roller coaster ride at 6 Flags and you can't sit all the way back in the car. I have always been a confident person, but with this new body, I have a confidence I now that I faked before.
3. What kind of responses are you getting?
Because I work in a doctor's office and may only see patients a few times a year, I forget that they may not recognize me. When the light bulb goes off, it does make me smile! Most are very complimentary and excited for me. A few even cried they were so excited!
While doing program, many of our friends commented they didn't think they would have the will power to do the program for as long as I did. My response? You do what you have to do to get the results. But those comments kept me going and motivated! People are always watching you, I wanted to be a good example of positive change.
4. Tell us about your favorite MRC Protein Supplements.
My favorite protein bar is the Cinnamon Crunch. I love the Wildberry Passion and Blue Raspberry protein drink mixed with Sprite Zero.
5. What made the Metabolic Research Center plan the right plan for you?
I am a rule follower and a planner. The "rules" on what I could eat, when and how much was good for me. I would grill my proteins for the week and pre-measure my fruits and vegetables in single serve sizes. I made it simple for the days that were hectic and I might not be able to cook. I just made it work around my family and our lifestyle. Always easy? No! But again, I was working too hard to turn back!
